Four years in

Twelve hulls. One survivor.

KwikJet X has been in build since 11 April 2021. Twelve different hulls later, we took the best feature from each iteration and merged them into a single boat — the one you can actually get. Its 40 mm pump splits the difference between a high-speed and a high-pressure design, so it climbs rivers as happily as it rips down a lake.

Nothing on this boat is there because it was easy to model. Every feature earned its place by surviving a build, a season and a river.

The jetpump

The heart of your jetboat.

Everything that makes the boat go happens inside one assembly: water in through the hull, 40 mm of pump, and out through a 24.5 mm nozzle you can aim. Here is what each part of it is doing.

  1. 1

    Intake

A slot set flush into the bottom of the hull, behind a grate, feeding a long shallow tunnel. The boat is moving, so water is effectively rammed in rather than sucked — which is why a jetboat gets more efficient the faster it goes. Nothing protrudes, so there is nothing to shear off.

  2. 2

    Impeller

Bolted straight to the motor shaft — no gearbox, no lag. The flow divides around the hub and passes either side of it, and the blades screw it along the housing, adding pressure as it goes.

  3. 3

    Stator

Water leaving an impeller is spinning, and a spinning jet is wasted thrust. Fixed vanes take that swirl out as the two paths rejoin behind the hub, turning it back into straight-line pressure.

  4. 4

    Steering nozzle

Here the pressure becomes speed. The 40 mm bore necks down to 24.5 mm — about 2.7× less area — so the same water has to leave that much faster than it was travelling inside. And because the whole nozzle swivels, you are aiming the thrust itself.

  5. 5

    Reversing bucket

Drop the bucket into the jet and the same thrust is thrown forward and down instead of back. Full reverse, and — held halfway — the fine control that lets you hold the boat still against a current.

Why equation-driven

The impeller is solved, not sketched.

The mass flow through the pump is the same at every point — what goes in comes out. The cross-section it passes through is not: the water travels as a ring around the hub, and that hub swells under the blades. So the blade is not drawn by eye. It is defined by equations and solved station by station, each section sized to hold that mass flow constant as the ring changes.

Three stations along the pump: the hub grows, so the ring the water flows through changes A B C
Three stations, looking down the shaft. The hub grows, the ring shrinks, the mass flow stays the same.

What you get

Everything on the KwikJet X

  • Ball steering

A ball-jointed nozzle linkage for the highest precision and reliability, with no slop to develop over a season.

  • 40 mm jetpump

High efficiency in a 40 mm bore, squeezed down to a 24.5 mm nozzle — the pure power of the motor converted straight into thrust.

  • Reversing bucket

Full reverse and pinpoint low-speed manoeuvring — back off a beach without ever turning around.

  • Equation-driven impeller

The cross-section the water passes through changes all the way along the pump. The blade is solved from equations at every station so the flow through it stays constant instead of surging and stalling.

  • Trim tabs & turning fins

Customisable tabs and fins — tune the attitude of the hull and how hard it bites in a turn.

  • Heat-set inserts

Threaded brass inserts throughout — unique to the X — so the boat survives being taken apart as often as you like.

  • Printable roll-cage

A roll-cage designed to come off the bed cleanly — no supports gymnastics, no post-processing marathon.

  • Shares hardware with KwikJet

Screws and the electronics layout carry straight over from the classic KwikJet. One spares box for both boats.
